Cousin's Mike, Tom and Keith have decided with a unanimous vote to Give Cousin Glen and Uncle Lorin the long overdue credit for the annual Smith poker tournament. It is known and agreed that Cousin Glen provided the first "BOB" trophy back in 2011. While the Smiths have been playing poker at the bi-annual reunion since who knowns when, the event was lacking a trophy. It is unclear how or why, but we know the "sumo doll" poker trophy named lovingly as "BOB" has been around the world travelling with its newest past winners. Apparently, Glen said the only rule was the winner must take 'BOB" on trips with its lucky owner and provide a photo of the journey. So, as a testament to the Uncle Lorin and Cousin Glen we have declared "BOB" an honorary Smith family Trophy.
It will be Incased in a new and improved memorial trophy case and dedicated to Uncle Lorin and Cousin Glen. Thanks for the "memories" Uncle Lorin and Cousin Glen. Past winners of "BOB" are
2011 Twin Lakes: Cousin Trent
2013 McSwain: Cousin Brian
2015 Twin Lake: Uncle Lorin/Glen
2017 Trinity: Cousin Misty
2019 McCall: Cousin Ole
2021 Pacific City: Cousin Jenny
2023 Trinity: Cousin Ryan
It sounds like Uncle Virgil’s family has decided on “Lake of the Woods” as the location for their upcoming 2025 reunion. Keith, the youngest son of Virgil & Yvonne Smith, will be taking on the duties and has the full support of his family. According to Keith, planning started well before the last reunion at Trinity, and he’s looking forward to creating a really fun family reunion. Along with his wife Leana and their tribe of kids and grandkids, his two brothers Mike and Tom and their families, they already have big surprises planned for the bi-annual reunion. Keith believes that starting the planning early and having the support of his family is the key to making sure everyone has a great time. The reunion dates are June 23 to June 29th. Bonus: Also held all cabins and campsites are blocked just for us! It’s great to hear that we're all excited about the reunion! 🎉

Cousin Sue has located the original newsclip on Arlena, Ward, Smith Schultz. "It was in with my mom's stuff" referring to Norma Smith, Moore. The Smith "cousins" are trying to update the family tree in 2024. Several cousins have come up with real documents about the life of Grandma Smith. Cousin David also provided pictures of her headstone Taken in Burley, Id. Grandma Smith was 63 and died in 1974. Oldest living cousin Mike said of Arlena "My memories of Grandma Smith were of a loving and giving person, who never asked for much for herself". She raised seven children who all became loving parents. We are well over a family of 100 thanks to Grandma Smith and in debt to her legacy.
This is a family record provided by the "Narma Moore family". It shows the dates of Grandma Smith's keys dates in history.
Kudos to Todd and family on a Great time at Trinity Lake. Over 30 Smith family members Checked into Pine cove Resort July 2023. This marks the fifth time the reunion found its way to the Trinity Alps. The weather was perfect as a great time was had by all. Highlights were, lots of visiting and cards. Cousin Ryan is this year's BOB winner. The Uncle Ronald pancake breakfast was awesome with Cousins Duane and Diane covering for cousin Brian, also on the bacon grill cousin Randy kept the line moving quickly. The potluck and lake cruise rounded out the week.
Cousin Keith and his team have new ideas for adding some new adventures sure to keep the Smith teens yelling for more. Ideas include a visit to a zip line park, teen dance and movie, Rope swinging into the lake, and axe throwing. Adventure is ahead!
